Haiku
by Leigh Marthe

Haiku I

Snow falling at dawn,
I long for your breath on me.
Sun melts all this light.

Haiku II

I carry soft wood
from shed to darkened kitchen.
This path is my peace.

Haiku III

Peace flags fly tattered,
release their threads like bird song
into winter white.

Hiaku IV

Hands ache in this cold
like bone rubbed against granite.
Cruel winter takes flesh.

Haiku V

Love is my name now.
I chant this music under
the sound of my breath.

Haiku VI

Rain falls like sorrow
on the face of dark winter.
Wipe these tears away.
